3 Soft Skills That Will Change Your Life

Your skills describe what you like to do and what you are good at. You wouldn’t hire or reach out to someone to do something for you if they didn’t have the necessary skills. This applies to you as well. There are hard skills and soft skills. Hard skills can help a person get a job, while soft skills will help the person be successful in life. Here I describe 3 soft skills that will change your life in a good way.

Soft skills can change your life

During the industrial revolution, manual labor was king, and learning hard skills was the golden egg. Today, with the information era in full swing, hard skills are still an asset, but the need for soft skills has taken over, and the mindset and ability to adapt is what differentiates those that want to have their manual-labor jobs back, and those who ride the new wave of knowledge jobs and businesses.

It’s no longer enough to be the smartest guy in the room. In order to succeed at work, you must get along well with all the people with whom you interact, including managers, co-workers, clients, vendors, customers, and anyone else you communicate with while on the job. These are the types of skills all employers value.

Soft skills are often the reason employers decide whether to keep or promote an employee. Some soft skills can be taught in school. But most you learn in everyday life and can improve at any time.

There have been numerous articles, blogs, books, TED talks, that list all the soft skills that a person need to succeed. I want to focus on three of them, because I’ve seen that when you master these, the others will also become part of your life.

Listening

People with this ability are more likely to understand tasks and projects, build strong relationships with co-workers, and also be able to solve problems and resolve conflicts.

Active listening can be accomplished using two components: attention and reflection. Attention involves holding eye contact, nodding, having good posture, and mirroring the speaker’s body language to show genuine interest in what they’re saying. Reflection is the repeating and paraphrasing of what the speaker has said to show that you truly understand what they’re telling you.

One way to demonstrate active listening is to allow the interviewer to complete each question and statement before responding. Do not interrupt and be sure that your response genuinely answers the question.

Listening is a key soft skill

Public Speaking

Public speaking is a soft skill that requires excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to engage with an audience.

This soft skill comes into play in many scenarios. It’s important not only in the delivery of speeches and public talks, but also in professional presentations, training events, and motivational speaking. Consultants, coaches, managers, clergy, sales representatives, and teachers, for example, all have a reason at times to speak in front of others.

Copywriting

Copywriters, or Marketing Writers, are responsible for producing engaging, clear text for different advertising channels such as websites, print ads and catalogs. Their duties include researching keywords, producing interesting written content and proofreading their work for accuracy and quality.

Copywriting is much different than typical writing, such as writing an article, blog post, or other pieces of content. Effective copywriting works to drive responses and increase purchases. Copywriting is needed in most businesses for marketing materials for products, services, fundraising campaigns, and more.

How to acquire soft skills

A good way to work on acquiring or improving these skills is to work with a mentor. A mentor can give you feedback and give you an external perspective. He can also help you find opportunities to improve yourself.

I wrote an article on the importance of having a mentor, with additional insights. A mentor can guide you in your self-improvement journey. But don’t expect that your mentor will give a recipe to follow blindly. Instead, engage in a self-discovery exercise where you find the answers to your own questions.

I wish you all the success, and you can contact me is you have any questions!

Enjoy life to the fullest

Life is a precious opportunity to be thankful. Thankful for the life we have, regardless of our struggles. Thankful for the time we get to spend with our loved ones, and to cherish all the experiences lived together.

Today’s world is full of disappointments, and it’s no wonder that a lot of people face the inevitable decision to spend most of the day working to be able to provide the basic things for their family. They work hard day in and day out, with the illusion that after 30+ years of hard work they will have saved enough to “enjoy life”.

Oh boy! How has that worked out?

Millions of people dying because of the illness acquired during their hard-working days. May of them with no access to basic medical care or without the means to buy the cheapest medicines.

It’s a brutal reality. It cannot be sugar-coated.

The promises of our family and teachers that we should study hard, get a job, work for 30 or more years, save money, and enjoy life in our late years has… just vanished.

The new world is different, and requires a different mindset, a different approach, a different way of working.

Regardless of your financial goals, the knowledge and information inside your brain can be your greatest asset. And the platform to produce results with that information is a couple of clicks away. The internet is the best option to find those who relate to you and your message. All around the world there are people waiting to hear from you, to connect with you and to engage with you.

Are you ready? Or are you doubtful, skeptical? It’s not your fault. You have been taught to follow the rules… rules created a long time ago, for people who don’t want people like you or me to change. Because the way things are is beneficial for some people, but not for the rest of us. They want to keep everything to themselves, while we keep working for a minimum fare and keep spending it all, so it goes back to their big pockets.

Is up to you to keep living with an old mindset, with an old mentality, with an old set of results. Remember that insanity is trying got get different results by repeating the same process over and over.

I have decided to take a different path because we are living in different times. Is undeniable that many jobs are gone, many others will come back being different, and only some people will be able to get them. Those who are getting ready, adapting, redefining themselves.

In a sarcastic cartoon there’s a speaker asking this question to the audience: “Who wants change?”. Everybody in the crowd raised their hands. Then he proceeded to ask: “Who wants to change?”. All hands went down immediately.

Those questions apply to you and me.

What are your answers?

workfromhome

It only takes a small step to find out if you’re ready to change your mindset, your way of getting started in the online business, to prepare yourself to create income using your knowledge and the internet. To be financially free and to control the amount of time you spend working versus the time you spend with your family.

Denying the current state of things comes with a hard lesson. A lesson that in the past caused a lot of people to miss out the great opportunities when big change happened.

Don’t be one of them! Check out the 15-Day Online Business Course in the link below and make an informed decision regarding your future.

It’s worth a try. It definitively was for me.

Be safe and enjoy your day!

Don’t be afraid to be accountable

We all like free stuff. Some free things are good. 😎

However, the value of free (or cheap) stuff can come with a catch. It’s like fast food. It’s cheap and fulfilling immediately, but in the long run it will have horrible consequences in your health.

When it comes to entrepreneurship, there is a time to enjoy the free stuff, but at some point you need to put some skin in the game. That will happen in the form of time, effort, or money. It’s the only way to go from a dream to a business.

Having skin in the game makes you accountable. You cannot longer procrastinate because you will start paying for that, sometimes big time!

You will start making new decisions that need to be very well thought out; you will make a plan and will get to work on it right away, making adjustments along the way and handling the bumps in the road without losing focus of the vision that you have set for yourself.

Accountability will make you show up every day, not occasionally, not only when inspiration comes to you. You will seek opportunities to create solutions every day, everywhere, at any time.

The evolution of any entrepreneur starts with a dream, then you start taking baby steps, which includes learning, networking, crafting a solution to a problem, and then launching your business and brace yourself for what’s coming ahead.

In this process, the key component between each phase is this: taking action. Without taking action there is not movement, and without movement there is no momentum, and without momentum there is no growth.

Nothing is guaranteed when you get started.

But if you don’t get started, there is something guaranteed to happen: NOTHING!

So, what’s stopping you from getting started?

If you’re afraid to fail, I understand you, because I was the same way. It’s not your fault. Entrepreneurship goes against a lot of teachings and ideas that we have been exposed for decades during our lives, and it’s not going to be easy to unlearn some old habits.

Remember that the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago… but the next best time to do it is… NOW!

I’m still fearful. It’s like public speaking… you never get rid of getting nervous. The difference is that, when we take action, we are OK with being fearful and nervous. We just change our response in such situations to improve the outcome.

I’m sure that you can do great things. I am convinced that you have great ideas, experiences, and a lot of value that you can share to the world.

There’s only one small step to take: ACTION!

I used the course offered in the link below, which put me in a great path to get started with my business online. I acquired so much clarity and the confidence in myself to take the first steps towards financial independence and to control my own working schedule and the projects and ideas that I love. I no longer fear the possibility of getting “streamlined” because I have the skills that will allow me some day to fire my boss and dedicate all my energy to my business.

I know you can do it too. It’s just one small step…

Here’s the link, if you’re interested, and let me know if you want more information.

“It’s just like riding a bike”, they said

Life is complicated. It can be full of disappointments and obstacles.

It can be insufferable at times.

Sometimes our current life is the result of our decisions, which get combined with unfavorable conditions, resulting in madness, deceit, sorrow, or even dreadful self-low esteem.

Life is unfair.

However, regardless of your current situation, the little spark inside you is ready to ignite a big fire that will burn every negative feeling and will help you climb that giant mountain that seems unconquerable.

You will raise and will use the failures to your advantage. You will apply the new learnings and will adjust; you will make pivotal changes, new decisions, new ventures.

You will face new challenges, and will meet them head on, ready to jump the hurdles ahead, and using every opportunity to improve, to become wiser, to inspire yourself.wanttolearn2

You will take action, knowing that sometimes you’ll will and sometimes you’ll learn.

You’ll share your journey with others, your successes, and your failures. You will inspire others and support then in their own journey. You will be their guide. But you will keep being inspired by your mentors because you will never stop learning.

You will reach new levels of improvement and your success will be tremendous. You will become a better version of yourself and that will help you create your own legacy.

It might not be like riding a bike, but pretty close…

3 High Paying Skills You Must Learn Today

It’s critical to adapt to the changing times we’re living in right now.

It’s no secret that for many people the skills they have and that have been generating income are no longer useful, at least during these crazy times. Yes, many are hopeful that the jobs will come back, but the waiting time is going to take a huge toll on and the demand for employee is not going to be the same as it was before.

Why?

Because the companies will not simply hire back all the employees they had. It’s a normal strategy to slowly reactivate the jobs and progressively try to go back to the prior levels of productivity. That means that at the beginning only a few people will be employed and for others the situation will get worse.

Learning new skills is a necessity. Here are three high paying skills that you can start learning today.

Personal branding

You have knowledge, you have skills, you have experience. All your life you have been doing some things that other people want to learn. Let me give you an example. If you were a cheerleader in your early youth, you have some tricks that you can share with other, and if you put your own spin to the way you explain those, that’s your branding. If you know how to dance, you can help others do the same. If you have kids and have apply some things that helped you raise your kids successfully, that’s a skill other parents need.

Your brand is the particular way you have to demonstrate your skills. It’s unique, it’s not copying anybody else. It’s your own way of presenting a solution to a problem.

You might say that the skill you have is already out there in Google, YouTube, TikTok or Instagram. But such skill with your own signature is not.

I grew up in the 70’s and when I heard on the radio songs like Staying Alive or Night Fever or More than a Woman, I was sure it was a girls’ band. Then I realized that it was a group of bearded dudes with a very special signature: a high pitch voice that presented the songs in a unique fashion that was accepted by millions of people all over the world.

So, your brand is something that you already have, you just need to refine it and make it specific so the people that relate to you can find you and follow you. And that’s the beginning of the journey where you put yourself out there in order to create value.

Branding is not about being a celebrity. It’s about helping people. You need to understand that nobody cares about you unless you care about people.

And to create value to show that you care about people you need to apply the next high-paying skill.

Copywriting

Expressing our thoughts and ideas sometimes requires writing them down in an organized way. Delivering a message that describes a real problem and then presents a great solution is a skill that requires practice and constant evolution. The ideas that live in your mind need to be written in such a way that the reader can perceive the benefit of paying attention to your message and to follow your recommendations.

Copywriting can be exhausting or it can be easy. It all depends on the clarity of your business proposition and the power of the solution that you intent to deliver to your audience. Learning copywriting is essential to communicate with your potential clients, and it doesn’t have to be formal or serious. There are plenty of entrepreneurs who’s branding is totally relaxed or casual. Presenting your personality in your writing is a sign of authenticity and allows people to know you better.

Sales

Finally, if you want to do business, you need to learn sales.

It doesn’t matter what industry or field you work or worked before, you have done sales.

How’s that?

Have you been interviewed for a job? That’s an act of selling. You’re selling your skills, your experience, your value. All this with the purpose of landing a job. Once in the job, you better be selling yourself highly every day to keep that job.

In your job, in your neighborhood or in your family you have a reputation. They refer to you with labels that describe your personality. Well, for good or for bad, this is the result of you selling your personality to those people.

What I’m trying to say is that selling is not a scary thing, but is a skill that demands rewiring our minds to understand that when we are rejected at the moment of trying to make a sell, we need to treat this as just another step in the process of closing.

Some people say that they are not made for selling, but that is the same as saying that a baby is not made for walking just because a few falls happened during the process.

There are millions of people that need help, and your skills are the perfect match for them. But without a branding platform where they can find you, without the right message to present your solution to their problem and the right way to persuade them to buy your solution there is no business. And this can apply to any product, either physical or digital. You can create your own training course, or you can promote products from other businesses, and you can make a commission. You can start with a product and then move to other product. In any case, the common skills to achieve success online are the same: personal branding, copywriting and selling.

Everybody wants to make money online, but learning the core skills is essential and is not that difficult, you just need to invest in yourself and be coachable so you can apply the same steps that other people have applied already.

Let me know if I can help. I know a thing or two.

I wish you the best of success!

5 Reasons Why You Should Start a Side Hustle

A lot of us hesitate when it comes to start a business on the side. The fear to fail, to not make money or to lose money always get in the way. Our inner 6-year old child is always telling us that we’re not enough, that we don’t have what it takes to be successful, or that other were born talented… WRONG!

In today’s world we cannot apply the mindset of those who lived in before us. With all due respect to our parents and grandparents, the times we live in are way too different from theirs, and if they did not adapt to the new reality then we should think twice about following their advice to the letter. And that includes our teachers, mentors, friends, colleagues or acquaintances.

Technology has reshaped the way business is done. And learning by doing is the best formula to decide is we want to start a new business venture.

Here are the reasons why you should start a side hustle online:

#1 – It’s easy. It’s incredible how simple and fast is to start creating content online. Writing blogs, posting videos, creating digital courses… there’s a million things you can choose from to decide the nice you want to focus on. It’s literally a few clicks away.

#2 – It’s free. You don’t “need money to make money” online. You just need to understand that it will not happen overnight, but after some time while constantly creating value, you will reap the benefits of this, and then you’ll realize that your initial investment (if any), it was nothing compared to the new kind of life you have now.

#3 – You can learn. Doing by learning is great. I have learned things like trading forex and stock options, affiliate marketing, product arbitrage, and all that by giving myself the chance to try it. And even though sometimes I have list as a result of my investment, the learning experience and the connection I’ve made along the way have been invaluable. Those lessons I have learned cannot be taken away from me by anybody.

#4 – Learn about yourself. Sometimes we learn things about ourselves that have been there the entire time. This can happen when we connect with other people who are pursuing goals that are like ours. Their input is a great way to validate our potential and let it transform into actions that can help us get going. Remember, to avoid falling from the bicycle we must keep moving forward.

#5 – Find your target market. If you’re at this stage, that means you’re sold on the idea of doing business online. Here you use all the learnings and the feedback from those who are consuming your content to find your ultimate customer… those who will be interested in products that you recommend or your own product.

So, there’s pretty much no investment when it comes to learning online business models.

It’s up to you to take action.

Let me know if you need any help. I’d appreciate connecting with you to increase my network and learn how I can create more value to you.

Have a marvilloso día!
